Creativity Project
For this project we were given the task of trying to chose something that you can do daily and show physical improvement of. I've chosen to take a new picture of someone every week and attempt to draw them. (I would be drawing daily, the pictures will take about a week to finish.) I will line up the pictures that I take and then put the portraits here below. My progress will show throughout time.
Portrait one - Week one : Grace
Day one (1/16/18): Ive taken the picture and have started to sketch a rough outline
Day two: I've edited the picture with filters to bring out more contrast in the shading.
Day three: I started shading the face outline.
Day four: I completed the project, the drawn portrait is below. (The shading looks better in person)

Summary:
I think that for drawing most of this portrait in one night, it looks pretty alright. I think I did okay. I feel like I could have proportioned the face better and maybe added a little more contrast in the shading, but other than that, I am okay with it.

Portrait two - Week two: Sarah
Day one (1/22/18): I brainstormed people to do portraits of and came to a conclusion and have taken the picture on a friends phone.
Day two: Edited the picture to show more contrast in lighting Day three: Began to outline the face shape and other figures Day four: Started over on different paper, outlined faceshape Day 5: Started shading Day 6: Finished portrait |
Summary: I feel like I could have done better with the proportions. For example, the nose isn't exactly the correct shape, and the eyes are a little too close together. Again, I drew most of the portrait in one night, so I think it's okay. I do feel that the last portrait I drew is better.
Portrait 3 - week three:
Day one(1/29/18): Brainstormed ideas for next portrait.
Day 2: chose the person that I thought would be fitting to draw
Day 3: completed drawing, realized that it only takes me thirty minutes to draw a full portrait
Day 4: discussed with Cyle and peers about switching daily practice to something that I do daily and in class
Day 5: considered options such as drawing only certain facial features a day, or switching it up completely

New Practice (transitional period of research & thought)
Day one(2/5/18): Drew eyes, nose and mouth all in thirty minutes, realizing that drawing one facial feature a day isn't challenging enough.
Day 2: researched different styles of drawing that I could consider such as caricature.. etc.
Day 3: pondered other options and talked with Grace about her daily practice and what she thinks good options for me are
Day 4: Realized that I have always wanted to do the splits and that practicing stretching, working towards doing the splits, could be a possible practice
Day 5: In process of deciding whether to practice and work towards an end goal of doing the splits, or if I should do something that requires more though and mental effort such as piano (another option I'm considering).
