Daily piano
I have played the piano for about 8-9 years now, but for the past few months I have completely stopped. I'm realizing that it's a waste of those years and a waste of talent to cut it all off cold turkey, so for my daily practice I've decided to get back into the swing of things. For the first week I will be planning and doing things such as finger exercises and research on which song I will want to potentially learn over the course of a long time. Week two will be the week that I start to actually play again, since it is the week on which I will start lessons again. I will be posting daily video's starting on week two, and if not, a summary of what i did that day. You can expect at least 3 videos a week, it just depends on my method of practice on a certain day; whether it can be recorded or not.
Week one - The transition
Day one (2/12/18): Still questioning whether to pursue piano or not for this project. I am stuck between either practicing the splits every day for the rest of the term, or piano. I am well aware that deciding to partake in piano again would be the more effort filled choice and I would have to persevere and work hard.. but I have always wanted to do the splits for as long as I can remember!
Day 2: Discussed with Cyle on which path I should take, and I am pretty sure we came to the conclusion of piano. There is currently only one piano in the school building and it is occupied, so for the duration of this week I will be doing things such as planning and researching songs, and finger exercises.
Day 3: Researched Jarod Radnich piano covers because his is one of the last songs I practiced before I stopped, and it was one of the most enjoyable, impressive, and challenging pieces that I've worked with. Jarrod Radnich is a professional musician who does many covers of popularly known songs such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", the Jurassic park theme song, the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song, and many more.
Day 4: Finger exercises - I read from some of my old piano warm up books such as Hanon, a virtuoso pianist. I practiced the first five exercises from this book, just to start off the piano process slowly since I'm not fully back into lessons and playing.

A little work off the clock (weekend of February 16-19)
I had my first lesson back with my old piano instructor today on the 19th after preparing since around the 16th. We discussed what type of style I'd want to start working with. After going through many different options and listening to a plentiful amount of songs on the internet, I decided to work out of a book named Gershwin At The Keyboard. We chose this book because the difficulty level is high and it's more towards the impressive virtuosic side of things. In other terms, the genre could be considered a mix between jazz and classical.
My instructor and I narrowed my first choice down to three songs. I will be skimming through all three this week and potentially decide which song I am going to pursue by the end of the week.
"The Man I
Love"
Week 2 - Deciding between songs
Day one (2/20): Listened to a recording of "I've Got Rhythm" (The actual song with lyrics), and then listened to a few recording of this same song done on the piano.
Day two: Listened to a variety of different recordings and covers for the song "Fascinating Rhythm" (at least 30 minutes worth)
Day three: Played around with these two pieces for about 15 minutes each.
Day four: Researched and listened to a multitude of recordings of the song "The Man I Love"
